My dad has a private pilot's license and he's been wanting to take Mom, Christina and me up with him just to fly around a little bit. Finding good days to do that here in the rainy Northwest is a bit tricky, but I was able to go up with him on Friday. I had a lot of fun! And...I brought my camera, so I can share some of what I saw with you.
This is somewhere in Clark County en route from Troutdale to Battle Ground.
After flying over Battle Ground, Dad took me back towards the Gorge, which was probably the best part of the whole flight.
This is looking down the Gorge. If you look carefully, you can see Beacon Rock on the north bank of the Columbia.
It was so neat to see waterfalls from the air. They look so delicate, like little ribbons on the sides of the cliffs. I wish I knew which waterfalls these next two are, but all I know for sure is that they're west of Multnomah Falls, on the Oregon side of the Columbia.
This one I know is Multnomah Falls. :-) You can even see the lodge and the tiny little cars in the parking lot.
I'm pretty sure this is Cape Horn.

It was kind of a weird feeling to be almost level with the sides of the Gorge.
Looking west down the Columbia as we made our way back to Troutdale. Thanks for the flight, Dad! I really enjoyed it!
